Just before the Jewish holidays, a young man shows up to get a haircut at Levana Haredim's, the favorite hairdresser of Moshav Shimshonim. Something tells her that she has met him before. Even though she only cuts hair for women, she accepts. With his arrival, her life changes.
 
Eitan, a resident of Kibbutz Avokot Oz, on the Gaza Strip, in southern Israel, and a drummer in a rock band, is on his way to a concert when he suddenly notices an elderly man walking on the side of a busy intersection. He decides to stop and pick him up, because at that moment it is the only justification for the cliché "stepping out of your comfort zone." The elderly man gets into Eitan's car for a moment and then loses his mind. Eitan doesn't know it yet, but at that moment his life also changes.
 
The plot takes place in the twelve months leading up to Simchat Torah 2023. It is told from holiday to holiday – sometimes by her and sometimes by him – without them feeling like they are standing on the edge of an abyss.
 
Accompanied by drums and excellent rock music from the 1970s, against a backdrop of the Mediterranean landscape and beautiful roads (and those that are few), the story takes the two main characters to confront secrets and crises from previous incarnations and solve them, thereby – literally – saving their lives.
A story that moves between memory and oblivion, between past and present, between deep pain and liberating humor, culminating in this miracle, in which two wounded souls meet and create a new world together, just before the abyss opens up.
 
Fourth novel by Yossi Rivlin. It was preceded by: "To Sing, a Love Story", (Pardes 2017), "My Burma Road", (Ktav 2018), and "Journey on the Radio" (Ktav 2022).
The book is dedicated to the memory of Yotam Haim, a drummer who was kidnapped to Gaza on October 7th. He was accidentally killed while fleeing to freedom.
